Make sure you get a version that works with your operating system as the original game runs on DOS and will only work with Windows 95 or Windows 98, (There's a different version for Mac, which may still work on a current MAC OS). Some of these user maps are better than the originals! This game had alot of "User Maps" made for it during it's hayday, most of which are still available on the web for free, which extends its play-again value.

"Redneck Deer Hunter" is another folloup game, which uses some of the same humor and weapons, but is a hunting game. "Redneck Rampage Rides again" is a separate game with even more music, and additional weapons. There were two follow-up games and one map pack, "Route 66" is a map pack for the original game. If it's not harsh enough for you, there is a separate "Cus Pack" available that will make a sailor blush! The dude you play as (Leonard) has alot of very funny sayings! Some people may find the language and violence too harsh or crude for their children.

This game is full of crude and offensive "Redneck" humor that makes fun of "Rednecks" but not other peoples (other than space aliens!). The full retail version has a cool redneck rock and roll sound track that you can play as a CD and play in the game using the included 8 track! Artists include "The Reverend Horton Heat", "The Beat Farmers" and "Mojo Nixon"!

These are called the "Early Years" and "Possum Bijou" editions, there's also a version without the music soundtrack so try to get the full version with the music for the best experience! Some of them are only partial games, with only the first 5 or 7 episodes (out of 14). There are a few verions of this game that were sold. It will take a couple days to play it through for most people. It's based off the "Build" game engine like "Doom", "Duke Nukem", and "Shadow Warrior". This game is a classic "First Person Shooter" from 1997, so don't expect the latest graphics or sound effects. Multiplayer action includes deathmatch action for up to eight players. Redneck Rampage contains colorful language (a "cuss pack" is available separately) and a soundtrack featuring The Reverend Horton Heat, Cement Pond, and Mojo Nixon. Two scales (Drunkometer and Gutometer), each with four levels of effectiveness, are used in measuring the player's health. 454 Casull pistol, rifle, shotgun, dynamite, crossbow, rip saw, alien arm gun, powder keg, and a mystery weapon. Equipment includes offbeat items such as hip waders, a vacuum hose, welding goggles, keys, and moonshine (stomach-settling staple), and the arsenal features a crowbar. Players keep their health at tolerable levels by downing CowPies and pork rinds while swilling beer and whiskey. Adding to the challenge are dozens of alien-induced clones of Billy Ray Jeter (an inbred mountain man), the urban-legendary Skinny Old Coot, and Sheriff Hobbes, the county lawman.

Hostile entities include deadly mosquitoes, chickens (target practice), cows, pigs, Turd Minions (alien fecal matter come alive), alien hulk guards, and vixens.
